Pokfulam Village Community Archives

The aims of the community archives pilot project are to preserve the local history, heritage, memories and stories of a community.  The memories of the community may be kept in mother’s washing board, the tin can for storage of foodstuff, games playing around the reservoir and the paths along the fields when we were young.  And most of all, the whole family will go Yum Cha at the local restaurant on Sunday mornings …

The purpose of building a community archives is to enhance the sense of belongs of the villagers.   Through oral interviews and collecting heritage of the village, villagers may get to know deeper of the village’s history and among villagers themselves.   Hoping that it will facilitate villagers in building a community of their own.

The Pokfulam Village Community Archives is a virtual archives, keeping digital images, audio and video recordings of the history and heritage of the village.  The virtual archives would like to share the memories of the village with old and young villagers, those staying in the village or who once were villagers but now living far apart, and who are interested in keeping memories and stories.
